SPOILERS IF YOU AREN’T CAUGHT UP.
I know I know, I haven’t blogged since June. Anyway…
Work of Art: The Next Great Artist brought to you by Bravo. I’m actually really enjoying it, almost as much as I USED to enjoy Project Runway, back when it was good. They have all their PR bases covered: Simon de Pury is the new Tim Gunn, not as awesome, but I like him. China Chow takes Heidi’s place, whose qualifications are that her parents were art collectors or something, I don’t know. OH, Work of Art is unique in that Sarah Jessica Parker shows up every so often and everyone goes “OMG OMG SJP” etc.
Miles, Ryan, and Abdi have been my favourites. I know, there are no women in my list, ugh, my blog makes me seem so sexist. Peregrine is just too out there for me though, Jaclyn is amusing with her obsession with the male gaze and her determination to involve sex in EVERY project somehow, Nicole is too “deep” for me, although I guess the same argument could be used against Miles, but hey, he’s cute and stuff. I also enjoy his art way more, while Nicole’s is… interesting.
Can we talk about Mark though? WHY IS HE ON THIS SHOW? He takes photographs and adds minor effects in Photoshop that I or anyone on Tumblr could probably do in their sleep. I don’t get it. And then the judges are all “WOW, he’s so talented in Photoshop, so commercial!” But then they say Abdi’s becoming too commercial.
That’s another thing, the judge’s level of bullshit critique has steadily gone up each episode, I’ve started fast forwarding through some of it. Art is so subjective in the first place, I’m not sure how judges can say “This is the best, this is the worst.”
That being said, minus the art pretension and recent lame judge critques, GOOD SHOW. I think Miles will win. Just throwing that out there. They’re less and less impressed with Abdi so… Nicole maybe. But they love Miles.
LATER.
P.S. Poor Ryan =( I don’t think he deserved to go home this week. We’ll miss your hotness kid.
P.P.S. The editors need to be more subtle about who’s getting eliminated, I knew as soon as we started getting 500 Ryan voiceovers and confessionals that he was going home.
